"I have often spoken about the excessive size of government, and most recently how waste and inefficiency
needs to be eliminated from our military budget. Our foreign policy is not only bankrupting us, but
actively creating and antagonizing enemies of the United States, and compromising our national security.
Spending more and adding more programs and initiatives does not improve things for us; it makes them much
much worse. This applies to more than just the military budget. Recently the Washington Post ran an
extensive report by Dana Priest and William M. Arkin on the bloated intelligence community. They found...

When there is no rule of law
Posted on 7/19/10
"Last week ended with some promising news on finally stopping the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Unfortunately, the administration still seems to believe that shutting down working oil wells is a
higher priority than effectively dealing with the broken one. They are again issuing a moratorium
on off-shore drilling, while maintaining a de facto ban on new permits even for shallow water drilling,
which they previously stated would be unaffected. The courts have twice declared this unconstitutional,
over 70 percent of the people see this as unreasonable, yet the administration seems determined to
simply end off-shore drilling...

How is it that a once-solid Dollar has lost nearly all its value?
Posted on 7/13/10
"Since its inception, the Federal Reserve has always operated in the shadows, without sufficient
scrutiny or oversight, while Congress has kept its hands off and its eyes closed. The Federal Reserve
has presided over the near-complete destruction of the United States dollar. Since 1913 the dollar has
lost over 95% of its purchasing power, aided and abetted by the Federal Reserve's loose monetary policy.""
The Military Can Waste Money Too

This past week various news events once again made it abundantly clear that our foreign policy is an
abject failure. Unfortunately, in spite of this the administration is determined to stay on this
destructive course, despite any past promises to change it. For Afghanistan especially, if ever there
was an opportunity to admit shortcomings and change strategies along with leaders, this past week was it.
There really is nothing for us to win in Afghanistan. Our mission has morphed from apprehending those
who attacked us, to apprehending those who threaten or dislike us for invading their country, to remaking...

Authoritarianism is Bad for Your Health
Posted on 6/16/10
"The administration's terrible healthcare reform bill is now law, but the debate over how-- and
whether-- the federal government should be involved in providing healthcare services is not over.
It is not too late for America to correct its course and stop the march toward a government run,
"single payer" healthcare system. Polls show that a large majority of Americans don't want Obamacare.
Congress should seize the opportunity to repeal the very worst aspect of this new legislation, namely
the mandate that forces every American either to purchase health insurance or face an IRS penalty.
This mandate represents nothing...

Why Governments Hate Gold
Posted on 6/7/10
"This past week several emerging and ongoing crises took attention away from the ongoing sovereign debt
problems in Greece. The bailouts are merely kicking the can down the road and making things worse for
taxpaying citizens, here and abroad. Greece is unfortunately not unique in its irresponsible spending
habits. Greek-style debt explosions are quickly spreading to other nations one by one, and yes, the
United States is one of the dominoes on down the line. Time and again it has been proven that the
Keynesian system of big government and fiat paper money are abject failures in...

Put Patients and Doctors Back in Control of Healthcare
Posted on 6/1/10
Most everyone agrees that health care in the United States has major problems, the biggest problems
relating to skyrocketing costs. No one doubts the system is in need of reform. However, too many in
Washington see tighter government controls as the solution. In fact, the problems are rooted in past
government controls that created more problems than they solved. Ironically, laws and policies in the
1970’s promoting Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) resulted from desperate attempts to control
spiraling costs. However, instead of promoting an efficient health care system, HMOs took far too much
control away from patients...

More Blank Checks to the Military Industrial Complex
Posted on 5/26/10
"Congress, with its insatiable appetite for spending, is set to pass yet another “supplemental” appropriations
bill in the next two weeks. So-called supplemental bills allow Congress to spend beyond even the 13
annual appropriations bills that fund the federal government. These are akin to a family that consistently
outspends its budget, and therefore needs to use a credit card to make it through the end of the month.
If the American people want Congress to spend less, putting an end to supplemental appropriations bills
would be a start. The 13 “regular” appropriations bills fund every branch, department, agency, and...

The Government As Identity Thieves
Posted on 5/17/10
"The spotlight remains on the Greek sovereign debt crisis as the riots continue. The terms of the Greek
bailout from the IMF and Eurozone countries remain contentious with citizens on all sides. Europeans hate
having their governments throw public money away as much as Americans do. The Greeks are not happy about
having their taxes raised while their pensions and salaries are cut. Meanwhile, it is rumored by the
Financial Times, AFP and others that Greece may spend more than it saves from austerity measures on arms
deals with Germany, France and the US as a potential condition of...

Ron Paul: Euro Bailout Will Lead to Currency Collapse

Fed Audit Under Fire
Posted on 5/11/10
"It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that the measure to audit the Federal Reserve is coming under
continuous fire from the central bank and its cronies. For the first time since the Federal Reserve was
created nearly a century ago, they have hired an actual lobbyist to pound the pavement on Capitol Hill.
This is a desperate effort to hang on to the privilege of secrecy and lack of accountability they have
enjoyed for so long. Last week showed they are getting their money’s worth in the Senate. At the very
last minute on the floor...

Congress Freezes Its Own Pay
Posted on 5/3/10
“Last week Congress did something fiscally responsible. It’s not very often I can say that. Granted, it
was small in the grand scheme of things, but I was glad to be an original cosponsor, along with Congressman
Harry Mitchell of Arizona, of a bill to block the automatic pay raise that Congress otherwise receives
every year. Every Member of Congress gets this raise unless it is expressly voted down. For the second
year in a row Congress has voted to freeze its own pay, which, in a time of skyrocketing deficits and
high unemployment, is the very least Congress can do…”
According to a new Rasmussen poll, a 2012 presidential race between Republican Congressman Ron Paul and
Barack Obama would end in a dead heat, with Obama favored by 42 percent of those polled and Paul by 41 percent.
It was the biggest political news this month you probably didn't hear about...
